Stop Living for Tomorrow

I am ALL up in my feels as I face the reality that my first born is graduating from high school.
I swear it was just yesterday that he was playing with Legos and wanted help with the “destructions.” (That’s what he called the Lego instructions.)
Why does it take a huge transition in life to make us stop and assess how we’ve been living?
So put on your galoshes because I’m going in deep waters with some thoughts I’ve been reflecting on during this major life and parenting transition…
I’ve come to the realization that a lot of times I live in the “promise of TOMORROW.”
I’m busy today, but tomorrow I’ll:
- Pray more
- Eat better
- Work out
- Do something fun with my kids
- Schedule time for my husband
- Call my parents
The major problem I’ve come to realize that I have is that I give myself away to lesser things today but justify my actions by saying “but tomorrow I’ll…”
How many times have I lost my priorities to the “promise of tomorrow?”
The truth is that someone or something really isn’t a priority until we put resources to it. Resources being our time, affection, or our money.
And now, the natural progression of parenting is happening. Our son is maturing today and is ready for his tomorrow.
Y’all! Don’t waste your life and relationships on the lesser things of today because of the elusive “promise of tomorrow.”
Be present with those you love and do the things you say you value.
Live for today, not tomorrow.
God bless!
Know Better. Do Better. Live Better. Live for TODAY.

Scripture:
“13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— 14 yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.”
~James 4:13-14
